Dean's Office chartstrings are maintained by the Finance Operations team and are published in a Box folder: DO Unit Chartstrings

  • Contains all Dean's Office units' active chartstrings 
  • Maps revenues/expenses to the appropriate units 

Chartstrings consist of:

  • 4-digit Fund code 
  • 6-digit Department ID code 
  • 7-digit Project code 
  • 2-digit Function code 
  • Plus optional 6 letter Flexfield code, if applicable
  • Example: 5014-122105-1111111-43-XXXXXX 

The Dean's Office chartstring file is published and updated as follows:  

  • A new fiscal year chartstring file is published in the DO Box folder by the beginning of every August 
  • The file is updated as needed throughout the fiscal year after it is published
