The intent of the Basic Science Funds Flow (BSFF) is to provide stable, predictable, and sustainable funding using a mix of department and Dean's Office 1900 funds, indirect cost recovery funds, and Dean's Office discretionary funds. The original BSFF was implemented for five basic science departments:  Anatomy, Biochemistry & Biophysics, Cellular & Molecular Pharmacology, Microbiology & Immunology, and Physiology. In July 2022, Epidemiology & Biostatistics joined the BSFF with slightly different methodologies for some of the BSFF components.
