The Dean's Office Financial Affairs Unit is committed to providing professional financial advice, guidance and service to the UCSF School of Medicine Dean's Office, SOM departments, organized research units and affiliates. 

The unit aims to: 

  • Communicate accurate and timely financial information at SOM-wide, Dean's Office, and departmental levels; 
  • Work with other campus entities to improve campus financial systems and procedures;
  • Ensure the efficient administration of financial resources; 
  • Execute financial oversight and coordination of SOM funds, plant funds, clinical enterprise-related funds flow, and UCSF Health/SOM strategic support financial services; 
  • Promote awareness of accounting, financial procedures, UCSF and SOM procedures and policies, and internal control policies;  
  • Provide guidance and training to faculty and staff; and 
  • Proactively strive to continually improve the quality of service.
