Catch “Under the Microscope,” a new monthly virtual series featuring a notable alum in conversation with a UCSF dean. Each conversation is 20-30 minutes and addresses a trending health care or health science topic that highlights the participating alum’s professional contributions to the topic.

This month’s segment spotlights Connie Chen, MD ’12, discussing the future of health care with School of Medicine Dean Talmadge E. King, Jr., MD. 

About the featured alum:
Dr. Chen is chief operating officer at Lyra Health, a behavioral health technology firm that helps companies improve access to effective mental health care for their employees. She is responsible for clinical care delivery and product. Dr. Chen previously was co-founder and chief medical officer at Vida Health.

She graduated Phi Beta Kappa and magna cum laude from Harvard University with a degree in economics and a certificate in health policy. Dr. Chen completed her medical education at UCSF and internal medicine training at Stanford Hospital and Clinics.

She has published on open frameworks for mobile health, as well as the use of comparative effectiveness research design, in leading medical journals including the Journal of the American Medical Association, Archives of Internal Medicine, and the Journal of Medical Internet Research. Dr. Chen currently serves on the UCSF Foundation Board of Directors.
