Mayor Edwin M. Lee signed legislation for a new research and academic building at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center.

"Recalibrating CTSI: Crowdsourcing Future Priorities": In response to significantly reduced NIH funding, CTSI has begun a strategic planning process and would like to create a solutions-oriented dialogue through an open forum. Investigator input into this process is extremely important. Submit ideas and/or comments by March 31. The top ideas will receive a $500 credit toward CTSI services.

Honors and Appointments



Russell K. Laros, Jr., MD, former vice chair of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences, passed away on February 17.

Joan Voris, MD, longtime former associate dean at UCSF Fresno, passed away on February 11.

Tip of the Month

The UCSF Staff Assembly Executive Board is now accepting applications for its Staff Scholarship Program to support activities that enrich the professional lives of UCSF Staff Assembly membership (career, non-represented, non-union staff). Scholarships (given in the amount of $300) may be used for professional development and continuing education (e.g., degrees, courses, conferences, webinars, etc.). Deadline is March 31.
