Video has been used for many decades in education and now digital video has made it even easier to create and share video content. So why are most videos of poor quality? In this session, we will discuss best practices and techniques used by professional videographers to create high quality digital video projects. Participants in this workshop will learn about the video production process, digital video cameras, lighting and best practices when shooting digital video and then apply these principles in hands-on practice to create a short video clip during the session.

At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the steps in the video production process
  • Identify the controls and settings on a digital video camera
  • Define composition in video and consider best practices when planning video
  • Demonstrate standard approaches to lighting
  • Discuss techniques used to capture quality audio
