This workshop will introduce participants into the specific skills associated with teaching procedures. This is a teaching activity that takes careful planning to ensure that the learner makes progress toward mastering a skill. The workshop will weave didactic points about teaching procedures with many opportunities for the participants to practice. At the end of the workshop the participants will be able to:

  • Translate the 6 steps of curriculum development into procedure
  • teaching
  • Describe the conceptual framework of deliberaive practice as it applies to teaching procedures
  • Demonstrate the conceptual framework by simulating procedure education
  • Give effective feedback on learning performance in a real-time patient care setting
