Audience response systems (ARS) can be powerful instructional tools. Since the earliest adoption of ARS in the mid-1960s, the technology has changed significantly by becoming more sophisticated, more user-friendly and cheaper. Effective use of ARS can create an interactive learning environment, and also promote an increase in learner participation.  In this workshop, we will explore the optimal use of the ARS technology to create a dynamic learning environment.

At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Describe how the features and components of ARS can be used to promote an interactive learning environment
  • Describe how the various questioning modes can elicit different types of learning outcomes
  • Develop instructional strategies for optimal implementation of ARS into teaching
