Educational technology is the use of technology to improve teaching and learning. The use of modern technologies to enhance learning should never get in the way of teaching and learning, but should be used effectively and appropriately to improve the teaching and learning environment. Specifically technology can be used to target multiple learning styles, promote active learning, facilitate course evaluations, teach through simulation, enhance presentations, provide deeper exploration of content and promote student collaboration.
At the session, participants will:
- Examine ways that technology can be used to target various learning styles.
- Discuss typical challenges facing educators and specific instructional media tools and strategies to address these challenges.
- Explore different types of instructional media discussing how each might be used to teach in different settings.
At the end of the session, participants will be able to:
- Describe ways in which technology can enhance teaching and learning and address teaching challenges
- Describe instructional media resources available at UCSF
- Discuss how technology can improve teaching and learning
