Creating Web Pages

To create a new page in DreamweaverMX or DreamWeaver CS3, select File > New from the document window.

New

In the next window, click on the 'Templates' tab, and select the template named 'Content'. Click 'Create'.

Your DreamWeaver template will open.

Before you do anything else, save this file with its new name into the appropriate place in your site.

Important: All files must end in .aspx. To do this, select Active Server Plus pages in the 'Save as Type' textbox, or type in .aspx after your file name.

In the new templates there are three regions which you may edit. All other areas are locked and you will not be able to modify them. Editable regions are bounded by a blue box and are labled.

Your main content area, at 415 pixels, is the center of the page. You will also be able to add items to the right hand and left hand areas on each side of the page. These items will be displayed under the navigation and may be no wider than 145 pixels.

Review the libraries for pre-formatted elements such as tables and images which you may add to your page.
