Teaching Scholars Program
is an Associate Adjunct Professor in the Department of Biochemistry
and Biophysics. She earned a Master of Science degree and a doctorate
in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from UCSF, where she studied the
enzymatic action of telomerase. Since joining the faculty in the summer
of 2000, her primary role has been to coordinate, administer, and lecture
in biochemistry, cell biology, and molecular biology courses for professional
school students. Dr. Fulton is a course director for the Metabolism
and Nutrition block, and a co-director for the Prologue block, both
courses in the preclinical medical curriculum. She also lectures in
other blocks and directs and teaches in courses for dental and pharmacy
students. Dr. Fulton has received several teaching awards, including
the "Commitment to Teaching" award from the medical student
class of 2006, and the 2004-2005 Academic Senate Distinction in Teaching
Award. For the last several years, Dr. Fulton has directed along with
colleagues the UCSF Postdoctoral Teaching Fellowship program, which
trains postdoctoral fellows in small group teaching. Her educational
interests are in the area of faculty development and teacher training.
