Teaching Scholars Program
is Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Pediatrics. He
received his Bachelor of Arts from Davidson College and his MD and MPH
degrees from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. After completing
residency training at UNC, Chapel Hill in 1999, he worked with international
aid organizations, spending most of his time in Sri Lanka with Doctors
Without Borders until 2001. He began at UCSF in 2001 and remains a full-time
clinician-educator and advisor for students and residents interested
in international health. Building on an interest in Complementary and
Alternative Medicine, he has developed skills in teaching self-regulatory
skills to children with habit-related problems and chronic pain.
