Scholars Program
is Assistant Professor and Assistant Residency Director for the Department of Ophthalmology at UCSF. She completed her undergraduate degree in biological sciences at Stanford University and her medical doctorate at UCSF in 2000. She returned to Stanford for an internship in internal medicine and proceeded to Harvard Medical School for a residency in ophthalmology. She then joined the faculty at Weill Cornell Medical College and served as director of the ophthalmology clinic and primary teaching attending for the residency program, until she returned to UCSF last fall. Dr. Chiu's academic focus is curriculum development and surgical education. Her research interests include giant cell arteritis, ophthalmic pathology, and small-incision cataract surgery. At UCSF she has a clinical practice in comprehensive ophthalmology and specializes in cataract surgery.
