Teaching Scholars Program Ellen H. Chen, M.D. (TSP 2005-2006) is currently a chief resident in the UCSF Department of Family and Community Medicine based at SFGH. She graduated from Harvard Medical School and completed her residency in Family Medicine at UCSF. She has worked in Latin American health settings in Cuba, Honduras and Nicaragua and plans to continue her clinical work with the urban underserved. She is interested in health care and medical education that recognize the importance of patient-doctor relationships, culturally appropriate care, and physician self-awareness. This year, she is working to develop a curriculum to integrate teaching about health care disparities into clinical residency training in ambulatory and inpatient settings.
