Teaching Scholars Program

Louise Aronson, MD, MFA (TSP 2007-2008) is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine in the Department of Medicine, Division of Geriatrics. She graduated from Brown University and Harvard Medical School and did her residency and fellowship training at UCSF. Her academic interests include end of life care, physician attitudes toward the elderly, and the use of narrative to improve patient-provider communication, nurture empathy, and bridge the social divides of culture, class, and age. She practices in the Housecalls Program, serves as faculty mentor for the Geriatrics Interest Group, and is one of the leaders in the movement to establish a Program in Medical Humanities at UCSF. In addition to her medical practice, she is a fiction writer with a Master's in Fine Arts degree in creative writing.
