Spring 2011
People on the Move
Arrivals: Brandy Vause
UCSF School of Nursing is pleased to welcome Brandy Vause as its new senior director of development and alumni relations. She comes to UCSF after eight years with The George Washington University (GW) in Washington, DC, where she most recently developed the university’s first regional fundraising program on the West Coast. She has also worked as an educator for the National Gallery of Art and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Vause received a BA with honors from Occidental College and graduate degrees in both art history and museum studies from GW. Working with new Dean David Vlahov and other school leaders, she will manage the effort to strengthen the school’s connection with its alumni and friends and to secure philanthropic support for its mission. You may contact her at bvause@support.ucsf.edu or 415/476-3441.

Departures: Zina Mirsky
Zina Mirsky, EdD, associate dean for administration in the UCSF School of Nursing, will retire in June 2011. Mirsky has been a valuable member of the university community since 1972. Named an associate dean in 1982, Mirsky has served five deans over the past three decades. “Zina has been selfless in her generosity to students, staff and faculty. I don’t know if there is anyone in the school who hasn’t been touched by her at one time or another – sometimes many times over.” Said Kathy Dracup, DNSc ’82, former dean. Mirsky will be rehired during 2011-2012 in order to ensure a great transition for the new dean, David Vhalov.
