Services and Programs

  • Confidential Counseling: Students seek help with depression, loss and grief, anxiety, relationship or family problems, academic difficulties, alcohol or substance use, couples counseling, and many, many other issues.
  • Partners in Medicine: a program to address the stress of medical education on medical students' relationships. Events include the Welcoming Dinner in the fall, and an event after winter break. In addition, we can offer educational events on topics such as couples communication, dual-career marriages, babies and boards. Medical students and their significant others are invited. You do not need to be in a relationship to attend, only an interest in the topic is necessary.
  • "D-Stress Rounds" are meetings with third-year students during their Medicine and Ob-Gyn clerkships addressing a wide range of stressors that arise during clinical work.
  • Co-sponsorship of Mental Health Awareness Week.
  • Dr. Wishbone: A school newspaper column addressing common mental health concerns.
  • Continued Focus on Wellness: Fruit during Intersessions, wellness kits for first-year medical students, and holiday wellness tips.
  • "On Doctoring" discussion groups for all students. Time and dates TBA.
  • Campus Outreach Events – We host lunchtime session for medical students to promote good self care habits and destigmatize mental health. We invite dynamic UCSF faculty members to present on topics that are linked with their current curriculum. Please see our calendar of outreach events. Click here to view our calendar.
  • Passport to Wellness – We partner with other campus departments to support wellness for the UCSF campus. We represent the medical school and voice needs and host events specifically for the medical school. We contribute to the annual Passport to Wellness series.
