Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research (FAER) Medical Student Anesthesia Research Fellowship The Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research (FAER) will inaugurate
a new Medical Student Anesthesia Research Fellowship program in 2005.
This program will provide support to the student and host department for
8-12 weeks of anesthesia-related research experience and is a new element
of FAER's commitment to attract scientific talent to academic anesthesiology.
FAER hopes that an exposure to the specialty early in the career of these
students will plant the seed for future pursuit of research in anesthesiology
and perioperative medicine. Fellowship Duration: 8-12 weeks Funding:
Host Institutions: Selected by FAER Board on recommendation of Student Fellowship Committee.
Recommendations on basis of institutional application describing level
of research activity in department, nature of ongoing research projects
available to FAER fellow(s), qualified student Fellowship Requirements: Full-time (40 hours weekly) commitment to fellowship including 15% clinical
anesthesia exposure (OR, Pain, OB, Critical Care). At conclusion of Fellowship,
student will submit a report on activities to FAER. Student and mentor
will provide evaluation of fellowship experience. Student and mentor are
encouraged, when appropriate, to submit results of student fellowship
project for presentation at ASA Annual Meeting. Student agreement to participate
in long-term FAER Application: Student application through FAER. Students eligible following completion of first year medical curriculum. FAER Student Fellowship Committee evaluation of student interest and qualifications, matching student interest with available projects and locations.
