Prenatal Partnership Program
The Prenatal Partnership Program (PPP) is a unique coalition of community-
and university-based family physicians working together with family practice
residents to provide family-centered maternity care. The partnership was
created in 1996 to improve access to care for prenatal patients, facilitate
improved communication and information flow within the system, and create
new practice management guidelines for consultation and medical admissions.
The PPP maintains a patient database to track demographic data, prenatal
and delivery data, and postpartum and newborn follow-up care. Family physicians
working in the community health centers of Community Health Network provide
obstetrical care to their patients as part of their practices. An annual
ALSO (Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics) course is presented for our
2nd year residents and community physicians by UCSF and SFGH faculty and
community physicians.
