Our goal is to create educational and training opportunities for postdoctoral scholars at UCSF to better prepare them for careers as successful independent scientists.

Our first course on Scientific Leadership and Laboratory Management for postdoctoral scholars and junior faculty was launched in December, 2005. We held the second course in May, 2007 and thanks to funding from the Sandler Family Foundation we plan to continue to run this course in the future. The next course will be held in November, 2008.

The Office of Postdoctoral Education awards research fellowships to support creative postdoctoral scholar-driven research and a prize, the Dean's Postdoctoral Prize Lecture, to recognize the outstanding creativity and independence of one UCSF postdoc each year.

For more information about matters of policy and general interest for postdocs, PIs and postdoc administrators, contact the UCSF Office of Postdoctoral Affairs.
