2008-09 applications are now available.

California Post Baccalaureate Consortium application

The UCSF School of Medicine offers a comprehensive, structured post baccalaureate program designed for individuals who have been unsuccessful in gaining admission to medical school or who have completed most of the required undergraduate course work, but feel they need more background before initiating the medical school application process. We are especially interested in individuals from underserved communities or disadvantaged backgrounds.

The UCSF program is designed to help individuals increase their chances of gaining admission to medical school by offering intensive MCAT review, assistance with medical school application preparation, science courses at San Francisco State University, seminars on health care issues in underserved communities, and academic skills workshops. The program begins in June 2008 and is 11 months in duration. It will be limited to 15 individuals in 2008-2009.

Application

The deadlines for the 2008-09 year are:

  • For first time applicants: April 2, 2008
(have not yet applied to medical school)
  • For medical school reapplicants: April 22, 2008

The California Postbaccalaureate Consortium Program Application is a common application that can be used for UCSF and for the UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Los Angeles, UCLA/Drew, and UC San Diego post baccalaureate programs.

Applicants will be required to complete a California Postbaccalaureate Consortium application, a UCSF Post Baccalaureate secondary application and an admissions application for San Francisco State University (The latter two documents will be completed once you have received an acceptance).

In addition to submitting a complete online California Post Baccalaureate Consortium application (you must complete all required fields), you must submit supporting materials, which include letters of recommendation, college transcripts, and if you are a reapplicant, a copy of your processed AMCAS application to the centralized service. This centralized service will distribute copies of your materials to UCSF and the other programs that you designate on your online application.

Send supporting materials to:
California Postbaccalaureate Consortium
UC Davis School of Medicine
TB 192, Room 113
Davis, CA 95616

If you are applying to other programs, please be advised that their application deadlines and program requirements may differ from ours at UCSF, so you should consult their websites.
