The islet cell isolation process begins when a
pancreas harvested from a human cadaver arrives
at the ICPF. Located in the heart of San Francisco’s
bustling Mission District, ICPF is one of only
three laboratories on the West Coast—and ten
across the country—that can do this delicate
work.
Most of the pancreases
come from Northern California; all of them are
from people who elected to be organ donors.
