On Mfangano Island, two medical students collaborated with the Kenyan Ministry of Health to improve emergency response and establish ambulance boat transportation to the mainland.
For the second year, the School of Medicine invites the larger UCSF community to comment, vote and improve entries to the Technology Transformation grant proposals. Seven full proposals are available online and we look forward to hearing your comments and suggestions for improving these ideas.

HONORS & APPOINTMENTS
William Dillon, Jr., MD, has been selected as the 2015 American Society of Neuroradiology Gold Medal Award recipient.
John Koo, MD, will be honored for his commitment to improving the lives of people living with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis at the Commit to Cure Gala to be held by the National Psoriasis Foundation in July.
Lois Barth Epstein, MD, DSc, former research physician and associate director of the UCSF Cancer Research Institute, has passed away.
Robert Painter, PhD, former professor in the Department of Microbiology and a researcher in the Laboratory of Radiobiology and Environmental Health, has passed away.
