For the third year in a row, UCSF led the nation in National Institutes of Health biomedical research funding.

In the 2017 US News and World Report rankings, UCSF School of Medicine was once again the only medical school in the nation in the top 5 for research and primary care (ranked #3 for both). UCSF ranked in the top 10 in 6 of 7 specialties:

  • #2 women's health

  • #2 drug/alcohol abuse

  • #3 internal medicine

  • #4 family medicine

  • #6 geriatrics

  • #7 pediatrics

The UCSF/San Francisco State University physical therapy program was ranked the #1 public program in CA and in the top 10 of US public programs.

The UCSF Pepper Center is offering several $40k career development awards and research pilot awards related to improving care for older adults. Read more about the call for proposals and submission criteria. Deadline: April 29.

Call for 2016 Hearts Grants proposals: San Francisco General Hospital Foundation provides seed money for innovative hospital projects and initiatives which directly align with Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital's mission, values and goals. Deadline: May 1.

The UCSF IRB has launched a new website designed to make it easier to locate important information. Visit irb.ucsf.edu and provide your feedback in this survey.

PASSINGS

Anthony M. Consentino, MD, pulmonologist and clinical professor of medicine, has passed away.

Silicon Valley pioneer and philanthropist Andrew S. Grove has passed away. Mr. Grove was an advocate for UCSF, advancements in health care and the treatment of cancer and Parkinson's disease.
