NOTE: The University of California Regents are considering implementing pay reductions, furloughs and/or other types of measures due to the state budget crisis. This position would be subject to any cost cutting measures implemented at UCSF.

Incumbent will provide administrative support to the Admissions Office, the Associate Dean, Director, and Admissions Officer; assist in compiling applications from the Association of American Medical Colleges(AMCAS); act as front-desk receptionist; prepare for interview days; provide brief orientation and daily schedules to interviewees; help put anxious interviewees at ease; coordinate tour guide information sessions interacting with medical students and prospective applicants; enter and update information in the admissions web-based console and Access; answer questions in person and by telephone regarding admissions policies; direct applicant inquiries to senior staff, as necessary; open and sort all mail; file letters and correspondence; prepare correspondence for the Associate Dean; assist with and perform other duties as assigned.
High school graduation and three years of related administrative and clerical experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; excellent interpersonal, organization, verbal and written communication skills; ability to work well with the public, applicants, students, staff, and faculty; ability to maintain confidentiality of records; good typing skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of programs; ability to learn (will be trained) to use Admissions web-based console; ability to work flexible days and hours depending on needs of the Admissions Office and interview season; variability of hours will be conveyed by hiring supervisor; ability to work effectively under deadline pressure; ability to work independently and be reliable; ability to lift up to approximately 20 pounds; on-going ability to file medical school applications (including moving and rearranging files, as necessary).
