Preparation for International Health Field Experiences

Monday and Thursday
December 8 & 11, 2003
5:00 - 8:30pm
513 Parnassus Avenue, Room N-217

Before you travel abroad to work in a health care setting, there are some things you should know about staying safe AND getting the most out of your experience. This two-evening workshop is designed to cover practical issues as well as the cultural aspects of health work in another country.

  • Find out what student health insurance covers
  • Learn where to check for security and health advisories
  • Hear stories from UCSF students about their travels
  • Participate in a discussion about cultural competency
  • Learn why you may need to adopt new attitudes
  • Chat with the IH faculty and staff over dinner

Note
: If you plan to request Study Abroad funds from the Office of International Programs, attendance at both evenings is requested. The workshop will be offered again in April or May.
