The goals of student interest groups are to promote student interest in that field/career and to provide career guidance and support through:

• faculty and resident mentoring and advising (both formal and informal)
• informational sessions (panels, lunches/dinners, speakers)
• information about research opportunities, international opportunities and/or other educational opportunities, such as shadowing, working with the underserved, etc.
• residency application process information/support
• information about department events and current issues in the field
• information about field-related organizations and outside resources
