Smith, MD
Joining UCSF as chair of the Department of Medicine in 1964,
Lloyd Hollingsworth "Holly" Smith, Jr., MD, led the University
through the booming postwar years to build much of the framework
that established UCSF as a world-class institution. While
professor emeritus, he continues to serve the school today
with the same professional acumen and warm-hearted humor and
grace that has made him a beloved figure at the school.
