The UCSF School of Medicine would not be among the top five in the nation without the everyday dedication of its staff. Our employees deserve to get recognized for their hard work, and not just during staff appreciation month.
If you work for the school, do you know how you can help to recognize
a co-worker? Do you know about all the opportunities you may have to advance your career and to reward yourself?
Following are some awards, events and resources school employees — including faculty — can utilize for themselves, or to reward others:
The quarterly Great
People Award recognizes both staff and faculty whose commitment and
values make the school a great place to work.
Anyone can nominate a colleague or co-worker for this award, and both School of Medicine faculty and staff are eligible. |
awards, training and development awards, Tier One and Tier
Two awards, and incentive plan awards are ways in which managers can initiate
recognition for the outstanding work of their staff.
This year, the School of Medicine is partnering with the UCSF Medical Center and Campus Life Services to sponsor a number of staff appreciation events designed to promote wellness. These events include yoga, dance lessons, rock climbing, a guided tour of the labyrinth, and more. Please check the Event Schedule for a list of events and information on how to register.
The School of Medicine's annual Salute to Excellence ceremony honoring SOM awardees from the past year as well as the recipients of the Holly Smith Award will be held on May 27, 3:30-5:00 HSW 301. Refreshments provided. Please join us.
The WINGS program provides financial assistance for the professional development of the School’s career staff employees. The program's goal is to aid in developing skills that prepare employees for career growth within the University. Last year the Wings program awarded grants to 300 SOM employees, a number that has doubled in the last four years. Check out the guidelines and start planning for your development today.
Both the School of Medicine and the UCSF campus offer a wide range of resources to staff, from financial advice to child care to options for transportation and career development. The School of Medicine "For Staff" page is a good starting point to access some of these resources.
A comprehensive list of useful links for all employees can be found on the UCSF Faculty & Staff main page.
The systemwide At Your Service website gives all UCS employees access to their benefits, including your health benefits and retirement accounts.
The Total Compensation Calculator provides you with an estimate of the value of your UC employment beyond your salary.
