It is the policy of UCSF and its affiliated hospitals that programs
do not discriminate with regard to sex, race, age, religion, color,
national origin, sexual orientation, disability or veteran status.
UCSF Programs select from among eligible applicants on the basis
of the applicant’s preparedness and ability to benefit from
the program in which they are appointed. Aptitude, academic credentials,
personal characteristics such as motivation and integrity, and ability
to communicate are considered in the selection.
Residents are required to complete attestation statements regarding
malpractice claims, drug and alcohol abuse, disciplinary action
and criminal activity as a condition of appointment. Any “yes”
response to these statements demands an answer. After review of
a residents explanation of “yes” statements, an offer
of a contract for training may be revoked or the conditions of the
offer revised.
Eligibility is defined in a separate policy.
