| "Why Become a Member?"
Membership in the Academy of Medical Educators provides professional
and personal rewards. These include:
- Academy members are recognized as highly accomplished educators
and are often consulted by colleagues and departmental leaders
for advice on questions of educational import.
- The Academy provides a cross-departmental community of dedicated
educators who work together to strengthen their own teaching and
to promote excellence in teaching throughout the School of Medicine.
- Because of the rigor of the selection process, Academy membership
is known to be a sign of outstanding performance by the committees
who oversee UCSF's merit and promotion process.
- Members of the Academy are eligible for matched endowed chairs
and financial support for external faculty development programs
that focus on teaching and curriculum development.
