Susan Masters, PhD
Associate Adjunct Professor
Department of Cellular and Molecular Pharmacology
Susan Masters had what most reviewers noted as the best
chairs letter, probably because her chair has such admiration for her
work. Noting that she has been nominated for or won 16 teaching awards
since 1996, Dr. Yamamoto quotes a faculty colleague, "her lectures
are well prepared and organized, but also engaging, humorous, crystal
clear and direct. She likes and respects her students and they clearly
feel the same about her." Describing her own work, Dr. Masters writes
I believe that a large part of my success as a lecturer in the medical
curriculum has come from my efforts to achieve two goals. One is to reinforce
the pathophysiology and cell and molecular biology that the students have
had previously. While this sounds simple, determining the content of preceding
and concomitant course actually requires laborious investigative work.
A second goal is to maintain a good balance of basic and clinical science." © 2001, Chris T. Anderson, photographer
