TIP: Teaching Improvement Program

TIP mentoring sessions are usually requested by individual faculty or by course directors on behalf of new faculty. The process is as follows:

1. Identify the Academy member or teaching session you want to observe.

2. Submit your request to Kathleen Land. If you are requesting to observe a particular teaching session, please allow at least three weeks of lead time so that the mentorship meeting can be scheduled. If you are interested in observing your mentor in any setting, Kathleen will respond with a list of options.

3. If the mentor is available, you'll receive a confirmation, the appropriate observation form and a reminder to work with your mentor to find a time to meet for the follow-up session.

4. After the observation and mentorship session you'll receive a letter from the co-directors of the Academy's Faculty Development Working Group attesting to your participation in a faculty development activity. Your department chair will receive a carbon copy of the letter.
