Faculty Development

Welcome to the Faculty Development page!

The Faculty Development Committee of the Academy of Medical Educators is dedicated to helping ALL UCSF faculty members improve their teaching skills, enjoy more fruitful and rewarding teaching experiences, and further develop their career paths as educators.

TIP-TOP: The Academy's peer observation Teaching Improvement Program (TIP) and Teaching Observation Program (TOP).

Sign up now to observe a master teacher in action (TIP), or to request observation of your own teaching activity (TOP) by a peer observer.

If you participate in TIP-TOP, you can list this as a Faculty Development activity in your Teaching Portfolio. The AME will also send you a letter documenting your participation (sample letter), which is copied to your department chair.

TIP: To initiate the Teaching Improvement Program (TIP).

TOP: To initiate the Teaching Observation Program (TOP).

Excellence in Teaching Awards

The Teaching Awards program was established in 2005. These are peer-nominated awards for UCSF teaching faculty, intended to highlight outstanding front-line teachers of medical students and residents at all UCSF teaching sites who might otherwise go unrecognized.
