Campuses

The UCSF School of Medicine encompasses facilities at 11 sites throughout the city of San Francisco and in Fresno. The school is headquartered at the central Parnassus Heights campus on Parnassus Avenue near Fourth Avenue, adjacent to the UCSF Medical Center. Find primary sites below for maps and directions.

The UCSF Shuttle Service runs between most major campuses.

Directions to Parnassus Campus

Driving

From the East Bay - Alameda, Contra Costa, Napa, and Solano counties (via I-80)
From I-80 after crossing the Bay Bridge, stay in the second lane from the right. Follow signs for Mission Street and take the Mission St. exit offramp. Get in the middle lanes and turn left on S. Van Ness Ave. After 7 blocks, turn left on Turk St. After 2 miles, turn left on Stanyan St. After 1 mile, turn right on Parnassus Ave. and proceed up the hill to the campus and medical center. The entrance to the public parking garage is on the right.

From Marin and Sonoma counties (via Hwys. 101 and 1)
From the Golden Gate Bridge, take the 19th Avenue exit (on the right, a quarter-mile after the toll plaza) onto Park Presidio Drive. Stay in the right lanes as you pass through Golden Gate Park onto 19th Avenue, where no left turns are allowed. Go three blocks, turn right on Kirkham, right on 20th Avenue, and right (east) on Judah Street. Follow Judah up the hill to UCSF. Judah becomes Parnassus Ave. at 5th Avenue. The entrance to the public parking garage is on the left.

From the South Bay (via Hwy. 101)
Take Highway 101 North (Bayshore Freeway). Stay in the left lane and follow the signs to the Golden Gate Bridge; exit on Fell/Laguna Street. On Fell Street stay in the far right lane and proceed west about two miles to Stanyan St. at the boundary of Golden Gate Park. You will need to veer off Fell St. to the far right in order to turn left onto Stanyan St. Go north on Stanyan St. uphill to Parnassus Ave. Turn right onto Parnassus. You will see UCSF at the top of the hill. The entrance to the public parking garage is on the right.

From the Peninsula (via I-280)
Take I-280 north; stay to the left and take the Golden Gate Bridge exit onto 19th Avenue (north). Proceed in the right lanes and turn right (east) on Judah Street. Follow Judah up the hill to UCSF. Judah becomes Parnassus at 5th Ave. The entrance to the public parking garage is on the left.

Patient/Visitor Drop-Off
Patients can be dropped off at the circle in front of Moffitt Hospital. Although there is no parking in the circle, this is the most convenient entrance to the Medical Center. Enter through the center doors and turn left. The Admitting Office (Room M140) is the second door on the left. Public parking is available across the street on Parnassus Avenue and on Kirkham Avenue.

From the East Bay
AC Transit buses disembark at the Transbay Terminal at First and Mission Streets in San Francisco. From there, take the No. 6-Parnassus bus to campus; or walk one block to Market Street, enter the Muni Metro/BART Montgomery Street station, and take the N-Judah Muni Metro to campus.

Take BART to the Civic Center station and take the outbound N-Judah Muni Metro, or exit to Market Street and take the No. 6-Parnassus bus to the campus. The Muni bus line runs along Market Street downtown and proceeds to Parnassus Avenue to campus.

Take CalTrain to the San Francisco station. From there, take the No. 30-Stockton bus to Market Street and transfer to the No. 6-Parnassus bus, or enter the Muni Metro/BART Powell Street station and transfer to the N-Judah Muni Metro.
